DuPage Children's Museum (DCM) founded in 1987 to provide open ended, interactive learning experiences for young children focusing on math, science and art and where they intersect. DuPage Children's Museum was the first to launch a children's museum web log (blog) for museum professionals, parents and caregivers to share early childhood educational topics.
The museum opened in 1949 in an old wartime cafeteria. It was originally named the American Museum of Atomic Energy. Its guided tours took visitors through the peaceful uses of atomic energy. The present facility, opened in 1975, continues to provide the general public with energy information.
